What a start to 2024! Fulvia Stoltz and I had the incredible privilege of travelling to Adelaide, Australia to connect with our wonderful Positiv Pty Ltd team. A huge thanks to Rene Rose and Kristly Bartlett for what may be the highlight of my career to date - the chance to dive head-first into the Australian PR and Marketing world. In true Positiv fashion, we combined hard work and client meetings with incredible food, a lychee martini here and there and even a koala interaction. We also capitalised on the rare opportunity to have all of us in one place with a team photoshoot, where I was told that if the whole PR thing doesn't work out I may be able to fall back on becoming a moderately successful stock photo subject...It all still feels like a dream, but I am so lucky to work with a team of powerhouses. Bring on the rest of the year!

Some wise words on the importance of relationships in a marketing world that currently seems defined by tech advancements, from our MD Rene Rose. Next month I fly to Adelaide for a two week team-building work trip with my Australian colleagues, some of whom I am meeting in-person for the first time. I cannot wait to strengthen these relationships and immerse myself in the international PR landscape, and look forward to taking these learnings home to our South African clients.

I've said this many times but one of my favourite things about working at Convey Communications South Africa and our sister company Positiv Pty Ltd is the value of kindness that we live by. Kindness to our colleagues and our clients, but most importantly to ourselves.As someone who has worked remotely for 90% of my career, the risk of burnout is everpresent, as it can become a little isolating, especially with all of us working in different timezones! However, the sheer force of personality and immense empathy of my teammates transcends continents, and I always feel supported and encouraged to take a bit of time away from work when I need it.I've seen some light eye rolling on LinkedIn about the value that Gen Z places on our emotional wellbeing in the workplace, but I can honestly say that employers who choose to prioritise this reap the rewards. Everyone works better when they feel heard, respected and supported. Huge kudos to Carla Violante, Fulvia Stoltz, Linda Hunjet, Rene Rose and Kristly Bartlett for making sure that we stay connected, even when we're oceans away!#WorldMentalHealthDay
