Howse was a former President of the Wichita Jr. League, a member of the Wichita DAR, an alumnus of The University of Kansas, one of the founders of the Institue of Logopedics (Heartsprings) and a former member of the board of directors of the Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum. She was a key figure in the establishment of the 1st National Black Historical Museum. Mrs. Howse moved to Wichita in 1915 when her father founded the Derby Oil Refinery.

She attended Dana Hall i in Boston and Sweetbriar College in Virginia. Survivors; son Christopher K. Ken was a retired aircraft design engineer from Boeing, Wichita. He is survived by his wife Ursula, his son Paul, his grandson Sean and great grandson Tarik. He will be sorely missed.

He was remembered by family and friends at a private ceremony at his home in Tucson, Arizona.
